U'16 - first game, first win
It had been a long time coming, but last season’s Oldham Schools’ Cup Champions were reunited for this encounter with St Joseph’s on Bigside. It wasn’t long before the players started to gel once again and play some flowing football. Tom Brooks’ long throw found its way through the defence to Osman Bushara who finished neatly to give Hulme the lead come half time. From the second half whistle, Hulme were dominant, with Robert Shaw bossing the midfield and Danny Mills making penetrating runs from deep. Hulme pressed home their advantage with Mark Eaton’s fine finish. Several late changes in personnel took time to bed down, giving St Joseph’s the chance to counter with just a few minutes left, and Hulme remained resolute in the face of late St Joseph’s pressure. For a typically stalwart performance at centre half, Luke Butler was named Man of the Match.
