U 12’s ESFA Cup 2^nd Round

Tuesday 4^th October 2011

Oldham Hulme 1 Wellacre 6

The U12’s unbeaten start to the season ended as they lost 6-1 to Wellacre in the 2^nd Round of the ESFA Cup on Tuesday. Hulme started with some good passing football and created a few early chances. Unfortunately they failed to put any of them away. They soon regretted this as midway through the first half Wellacre took the lead. Despite battling hard the U12’s couldn’t find an equaliser and the first half ended with no further goals.

In the second half Hulme couldn’t match their earlier efforts and Wellacre took full command of the game. They scored 5 further goals and the U12’s only managed one goal scored by Ben Taylor, his 3^rd of the season. The Man of the Match was Tom Walton who played really well in the centre of midfield.

Despite losing their unbeaten run, the U12’s are not disheartened and they look forward to the rest of the season with confidence.

Today there was a big game as Hulme faced local rivals MGS .It was also a special day for Hulme striker William Lamb who was celebrating his 12^th birthday. The game started off very even as both teams were looking strong. We got an early breakthrough as William Lamb finished a special birthday goal (1-0). After that we slowed down and MGS took control. Later in the first half MGS got two quick successive goals to go 2-1 up. At half time Coach Mr Hurst gave a good team talk and at the start of the second half we looked a lot stronger. Early in the second half Hulme’s other striker Jamal Steele scored a brilliant goal to bring Hulme back level. Coach made a few substitutions and brought on super sub Ben Taylor who finished the match off with a brilliant double. The game finished 4-2 to Hulme. The man of the match was Cameron Southern who made some brilliant runs down the left wing and set two of the four goals up.

Match Report- Year 7
A tense Hulme U12's took on Crompton House B on Saturday 17th September as a new team getting to know each other. But soon nerves were settled as Jamal Steele opened the scoring after 5 minutes taking the ball round the keeper. Soon after Cameron Southern delevered a great cross for Sam Fisher to nod in another, the first of a great hat-trick.

2 goals by Will Lamb made it 5-0 at half time. But thats wasn't it for Hulme, goals by Will Wright, Safian Imran and followed with a last minute goal for Crompton House. The final score finished 8-1 to Hulme Grammar School, a great start to the season!

Ketani shines as Hulme get their first victory

Hulme U'12 5 - St Joseph's 2
Goalkeeper Simon Ketani was the hero as Hulme grabbed their first victory this season. It was mostly one sided in the first half, however it took ten minutes for Patrick Flanagan to score the opener. Five minutes later he grabbed his second with a sharp finish into the bottom corner past the sprawling keeper. Hulme led two nil at half time.

Three minutes into the second half Patrick Flanagan scored his third as Mr Hurst's half time team talk paid off. However St Joseph's got back into the game with a cracker into the top corner. However, hopes of a come back were soon quashed when Hulme scored their fourth; Charlie Kennedy broke down the right side and blasted the ball into the roof of the net. Keitel Howarth scored a fifth for Hulme with a calm finish and the game was all over, despite St Joseph's getting a late consolation to make the final score 5-2. The manager gave Man of the Match to Harry Gledhill.

U'15 against Bolton

Obi Ebizie’s first half goal gave Hulme a glimmer of hope with the score 3-1 in Bolton’s favour. The second half score-line could have run into double figures were it not for several fine saves by goalkeeper Laurence Gard. For his never say die attitude and intelligent running Adam Wilk was named Man of the Match. In the end, Bolton’s forwards dominated and Hulme endured an emphatic defeat in miserable weather.

The team put in a very commendable performance at the ISFA Sixes. They came third in the group with wins against Ibstock Place (1-0) and Forest School (2-0), draws against QEGS, Blackburn (1-1) and Highgate School (0-0) and one loss against Oswestry (0-1). In the quarter-finals of the plate they drew 0-0 with Bolton School but were eliminated on penalties losing 5-4.

Pre- season for seniors

A reminder that pre-season training for all senior players takes place on Tuesday 24, Wednesday 25 and Thursday 26 August. Meet at the pavilion for a 10am start. Training on each day will finish at 1pm.

Great occasion but disappointing result.

Hulme 1stXI lost three two to North Chadderton in the final of the Oldham Schools Cup at Boundary Park. Despite taking an early lead, the goal coming from Jamie Paul, the 1st team failed to produce the quality of football they are capable of and on the night were out fought by a determined North Chadderton team.

The equaliser came ten minutes before half time and North Chadderton went in front five minutes after the restart. With twenty minutes left the situation got more difficult when Josh McConnell saw red in more ways than one and two minutes later Chadderton's lead was extended. Despite a bullet header by Daniel Orr, at his beloved Chaddy End, it was too little too late and North Chadderton were crowned Oldahm Schools Champions. Bradley Norcross was Hulme's man of the match, which was fitting for the player of the season.
